Sunt acum la discul numărul 2, și nu mai am răbdare să aștept până se termină, trebuie să vă povestesc despre el. Richard a făcut o treabă excelentă, a păstrat ideea albumelor anterioare de ISOS, și a mixat excepțional 26 de melodii trance (câte 13 pe fiecare disc). Linia centrală a noului album, dedicat Africii de Sud, este uplifting trance, cu accente de progressive trance pe discul 2, o adevărată desfătare pentru urechi — abia aștept să le ascult în mașină, pe autostradă, în drum spre mare.

Vă recomand cu căldură să cumpărați albumul, este de colecție și întrarea în forță a lui Durand pe seria In Search of Sunrise merită deținută. Legal (costă numai 14 euro pe site-ul Black Hole Recordings →).

Conform anunţului făcut ieri → (7 aprilie), artistul începe o nouă serie de albume de mixuri, numite „A New Dawn”, sub umbrela unui nou label, Musical Freedom (după ce la sfârşitul anului trecut s-a separat complet de Black Hole Recordings).

Aştept cu interes să văd răsăritul prin ochii lui. Vă las cu Hide & Seek, remixul de pe ISOS 6 care îmi umezeşte de fiecare dată ochii. Enjoy!

The Mission Dance Weekend ajunge anul acesta la a treia ediţie. Ca şi anii trecuţi, concertele vor avea loc pe plaja de la Năvodari, la începutul lunii august (anul acesta va fi în weekendul 6-7). În 2008 şi 2009 The Mission ne-a răsfăţat cu invitaţi numai unul şi unul, şi după cum se întrevăd deja lucrurile, şi în 2010 va fi la fel.

Iar dacă el a fost impresionat, eu am fost dat pe spate. Cele mai cunoscute melodii de pe albumul Imagine, dar şi câteva mai vechi, sună la fel de bine cântate pe viori, clarinete, tube şi restul instrumentelor. Şi mai frumos a fost că la Zocalo (melodia produsă acum mai mulţi ani de Armin în colaborare cu Gabriel & Dresden) i-au făcut o reală surpriză →, aducându-l pe Eller, fratele lui Armin, să interpreteze pasajele de chitară.

Dacă aveţi o oră la dispoziţie pentru a asculta o interpretare fantastică a unor melodii şi mai fantastice, vizitaţi site-ul Radio4. E în olandeză, dar nu trebuie decât să daţi play pe primul video. Nu a fost deloc un concert „clasic”, oamenii au stat în picioare, ca la un concert trance, au fost lasere şi stroboscoape, iar dirijorul, foarte tânăr dealtfel, a interacţionat foarte frumos cu publicul. Se naşte genul „symphonic trance”? Update: Din păcate filmul întreg nu mai este disponibil pe site-ul oficial, dar puteți găsi parți din concert pe YouTube.

Puteţi să descărcaţi versiunea audio a concertului de pe site-ul ArminOnly →, unde este şi playlist-ul. Nu-mi pare rău decât de două lucruri: nu cred că orchestra va veni şi în România cu concertul ăsta, şi nu am găsit (încă) o cale de a salva şi fişierul video

A venit târziu, ca de obicei, abia pe la 2 noaptea. Dar a meritat. Paul van Dyk (despre el vorbim) a mixat sâmbătă noaptea de parcă venea sfârşitul lumii. Muzică bună, „progressive” şi „trance”, mixată genial, aşa cum trebuie să se audă de sub degetele unui DJ din Top 10. A fost… aşa cum trebuia să fie.

Nici măcar frigul de afară nu a contat, înăuntrul cortului erau atât de mulţi oameni încât devenise prea cald. Nu prea aveai loc să dansezi, dar când asculţi trance e suficient să închizi ochii şi să ajungi unde vrei. Pentru că trance-ul e o stare de spirit, nu doar un mod de a face „aerobic”. Mai aşteptăm şi altă dată!

Epigonii

Numiţii Snatt & Vix cred că ar fi mai bine să-şi schimbe poreclele in NOT & VAX. Slab. Ce zic eu slab… prost de tot! Nu cred că am mai auzit vreun set atât de nereuşit de când merg pe la concerte. Şi ce-i mai rău, în deschiderea unui nume major ca van Dyk. Nu e suficient să pui nişte melodii cunoscute de la Cressida sau Cosmic Gate, la care publicul urlă doar pentru că le-au recunoscut. Trebuie să le mai şi mixezi corect, altfel iese un fel de cacofonie. Au încercat ei un fel de potpuriu în stilul Sander van Doorn, dar spre deosebire de olandez, nu le-a ieşit deloc.

Nu ştiu care a fost conceptul celor de la The Mission, dar eu încă îl prefer pe Vania (MySpace →, Nights.ro →) în deschideri, mixează cu câteva ordine de mărime mai bine decât epigonii de mai sus, şi nu se emoţionează de numele mari (a deschis în trecut inclusiv pentru Tiesto şi van Dyk dacă îmi aduc bine aminte). Vania are un stil mai techno, dar nu ştiu cui i s-a părut că van Dyk ar pune „melodic trance” în concerte…

Asta e definiţia trance-ului. Cuvintele sunt de prisos.

Afisul concertului

Începem anul frumos: s-a anunţat primul concert trance în Bucureşti. Organizatori, ca de obicei, The Mission. Invitat, aşa cum aţi văzut deja din titlu, Paul van Dyk. Locaţia, Arenele Romane, nu e printre preferatele mele pe timp de iarnă (din cauza cortului care obturează foarte mult), dar asta e acum. Probabil Sala Polivalentă e prea scumpă.

Evenimentul nu a apărut încă pe site-ul apare pe site-ul The Mission →, dar probabil revenirea după vacanţă e mai lentă. Pe site-ul oficial → este listat, ceea ce e mai important. În momentul ăsta nu sunt bilete puse în vânzare. Dacă găseşte cineva, să-mi spună şi mie Biletele se găsesc de acum pe www.bilete.ro →.

Până acum am mai fost la două concerte PvD: unul care nu mi-a plăcut deloc (nici playlist-ul, nici faptul că am avut impresia că de fapt nu a mixat, ci s-a jucat la butoane în timp ce mixul curgea singur din Ableton), şi altul de la care nu aş mai fi plecat. Cel din urmă tot la Arene a fost, tot în cort, dar „meşterul” a mixat atunci foarte progressive (adică pe placul „unora” [tuse] ).
